Game of the Week Announcement

Our initial thought was to follow suit and pick one game to cover this week.  But with 17 league titles potentially being settled Friday and Saturday, we decided to spread the wealth and pick a few games that we thought were most intriguing.
  • Game 1: #3 Gloucester (9-0; 4-0) at Lynn Classical (8-1; 3-0) - This one's a no-brainer.  Gloucester has been rolling since 2009, and every team that we thought had a chance to hang with them has gotten smacked.  Classical hopes to change that.  They come in averaging 31.4 points per game, and will need to match that if they hope to dethrone the Fishermen.  One thing Classical absolutely can not do: turn the ball over.
  • Game 2: Plymouth North (7-2; 3-0) at Dennis-Yarmouth (8-1; 3-1) - The Atlantic Coast could be headed for a three-way tie between these two teams and Marshfield, but if Plymouth North can hold Dolphins quarterback Matt Montalto in check and get a win Friday night, they'll win the league outright.  The North offense will be the deciding factor.  They've put up a respectable 20 points per game, but this week they face a D-Y defense that has pitched two shut-outs and held opponents to single digits four times.
  • Game 3: Pentucket (7-2; 2-1) at North Andover (8-1; 3-0) - I like this game a lot.  North Andover has drilled almost everyone on their schedule, and Brandon Walsh is one of the Top 10 quarterbacks in the class of 2012.  But Pentucket has shown they know how to win close games, and if their defense is able to apply pressure, that's exactly what this will turn into.
  • Game 4: Swampscott (7-2; 2-1) at Beverly (4-5; 4-0) - Swampscott has the best offense in the Northeastern Small by far, with AJ Baker and Michael Walsh helping the Big Blue put up over 30 points a game.  But Beverly boasts a very solid defense, and if sophomore Brendan Flaherty is able to find space, Beverley will be more than capable of winning this one.
