BCS Bowl Predictions, Part 1

Finally starting to get a clearer picture of what team's are poised to make pushes for their conference championships.  A few thoughts on yesterday:
  • Rick Neuhisal decided to physically test the Longhorn's defense, and it paid off.  There was no trickery in what the Bruins did yesterday in Austin.  They ran the ball between the tackles, exposing what may be an overrated Texas defense.  Not what the Longhorn faithful was hoping for the week before Oklahoma, and something Lane Kiffin and USC should be very aware of.
  • Arkansas's defense is good enough to allow them a serious shot at a BCS birth.  The talk leading up to yesterday's game was whether or not the Razorbacks could slow the Tide's run game.  For three quarters, they did that and more, harassing QB Greg McElroy and picking off two passes, one in the end zone.  Three quarters of that kind of defense, coupled with their high powered offense, will get it done 9 out of 10 times against every other team on their schedule.
  • I'm still not convinced Boise State would be able to beat any of the other four teams ranked in the top 5.  Kellen Moore takes entirely too many chances, and has developed a habit of throwing off his back foot.  That'll beat Nevada's secondary.  Won't cut it against the Buckeye's or Tide.
My BCS predictions thus far:
  • BCS Title Game - Alabama over Ohio State
  • Rose Bowl - Oregon State over Wisconsin
  • Sugar Bowl - Arkansas over Boise State
  • Orange Bowl - Florida State over West Virginia
  • Fiesta Bowl - Texas over TCU
