9/17

Neither is in the top 25.  Neither has a Division 1 commit.  Very rarely does either get more than 2 lines in the Globe or Herald. Usually, the best players from their towns escape the obstacles they struggle with daily and take their talents to places like Newton, Weston, or private schools like Trinity Catholic.  But here is something you need to realize about the Boston schools: for all they have going against them, these kids play hard.
Therefore, our game of the week will be the showdown between Boston Latin Academy and Randolph.  A little history behind this game..
Last year was a huge year for LA.  They went 8-3, and were extremely close to gaining a play-off birth. After beating Case in their opener (as they did last week), they visited a Randolph team who was 0-1 and coming off a winless season.  After charging out to an early lead, Randolph’s home run hitters proved too much for LA, as the Blue Devils won on a bomb late in the game.  A late LA drive was deterred after a big pick by Randolph deep in its own territory.  LA would go on to win 7 of their last 9.  Randolph has not won since.
LA again looks to be one of the better teams in the city, and the rumblings out of Randolph are that their sophomore and junior laden squad are ready to erase the memories of the past three years.  Kickoff is set for tomorrow morning.
